Where did VinTech Aero come from?

The history of VinTech Aero is distinctive in the field of vintage aviation services in that our cultural roots grew purely out of passion rather than business. In the late 90s, VinTech’s founder, Michael Potter, began assembling a personal collection of fighters, trainers, and classics for public display to celebrate the rich history of aviation. Mike soon realized that he also wanted to bring in-house the knowledge, skills and experience to fully restore – or even to rebuild from scratch – such aircraft for his personal collection. That ambition required a cadre of talented aircraft engineers who had the skills, patience, attention to detail, and a passion for these very special aircraft, and the infrastructure to support them. Thus was VinTech Aero born and nurtured in a culture of passion and personal pride.

As time passed, the value and pride of ownership vested in the experience, know-how, and reputation of VinTech Aero became as precious as the aircraft collection, hence a decision to extend its reach and ensure its future by serving a broader vintage aircraft community.

The evolution of VinTech Aero to extend its services to an outside market has been a natural one because the new aircraft owner/operators that we serve have the same basic values as our founder: “do it right, make it authentic, and keep me safe!”

Today, as it has been at VinTech Aero for more than  20 years, aircraft that enter our hangar are more than amalgams of wood and wire, thrust and trust, linen and aluminum — they are vessels for stories. Of missions flown and moments survived. Of the people who built them, flew them, and trusted their lives to them.
